Our Kaden~

Our little Kaden~

As of this evening Kaden is weighing 2lbs 8ozs. He is 14.5 inches long and will be 4wks old this Sunday. As you can see he is still vented and will be for awhile.

All tests are normal, though seems that he may have an infection in his lungs, though the doctors are not really sure yet, and we will find out more later. His doctors did start antibiotics yesterday which has seemed to already help his breathing.

I will keep updates posted as we get information.

We do not get to see Kaden everyday. The hospital he is at is an hour drive to and from and with work and daily life, well we try to get there to see him as much as we can and when we can't we sure call to get reports. I will be going to see the little one on Friday and will update after. Victoria (Kaden's mommy) went to see him today. I so wished that all hospitals that care for preemies would have something for family to stay close. Maybe one day~

My daughter gave me one of the most beautiful blessing a grandmother could have. I was in the delivery room, and oh what a blessing.... We were told to not expect anything as a normal birth, most all preemies are born without taking breaths or making sound. Our little guy came into this world with eyes wide open and took a big breath. He also cried a few times while the NICU team was working on him. It was the most beautiful site and sound I have ever witnessed.

Kaden was born 13wks early at 27wks preterm on 12/14/08.
